Tier 1

Philip Rivers vs. KC – Look for Rivers to continue his hot start at home.

Tony Romo vs. NYG – Romo will top 250 yards with 2 TDs. The run sets up everything.

Matt Stafford vs. NO – The loss of Calvin Johnson lowers him a bit, but still a No. 1 vs. the Saints.

Cam Newton vs. GB – The Packers D is down a few DBs potentially. Newton’s using his legs more too.

Russell Wilson vs. Stl. – Expect Wilson to get back to playing like his normal self against the Rams.

Joe Flacco vs. Atl – Tough to repeat last week’s effort but this is a great matchup.

Jay Cutler vs. Mia – The Dolphins D just got torched for 3 TDs. Cutler can put up 250+ yards and 2 TDs.

Tier 2

Alex Smith vs. SD – There could be issues with the Chargers pass D.

Matt Ryan vs. Bal – Ryan still benefits from garbage time points.

Carson Palmer vs. Oak – Palmer has a nice matchup here. Could top 225 with 2 TDs.

Kirk Cousins vs. Ten – Cousin’s may be benched but it won’t happen this week. He’ll put up 20+ fantasy points.

Bust

Drew Brees vs. Det – Something is missing with the Saints and it’s more than TE Jimmy Graham.

Fantasy Sleeper

Jake Locker / Charlie Whitehurst vs. Was – The Skins pass D is horrible.

Tier 1

Jay Cutler vs. NYJ – The Jets are undermanned in the secondary.

Nick Foles vs. Was – There will be big plays for the taking.

Cam Newton vs. Pit – Look for Newton to top 250 yards with 2 TDs.

Philip Rivers vs. Buf – Rivers is a solid No. 1 against a better D than people realize.

Tom Brady vs. Oak – He hasn’t played like a No. 1 thus far but this Raiders D is inviting.

Kirk Cousins vs. Phi – It’ll be hard for RGIII to get his job back. The Eagles secondary is vulnerable.

Matt Ryan vs. TB – Expect better results than a week ago. 250 yards with a few TDs.

Russell Wilson vs. Den – Look for Wilson to use play action to his advantage.

Tier 2

Tony Romo vs. Stl. - Look or 15-20 fantasy points.

Andy Dalton vs. Ten – Check AJ Green’s status. Dalton’s start worthiness depends on him.

Colin Kaepernick vs. Arz – The Cards D is down 3-4 starters.

Bust

Peyton Manning vs. Sea – It won’t be as bad as the Super Bowl, but Seattle is a tough place to play. Expect a less than stellar performance.

Fantasy Sleeper

Matt Cassel vs. NO – The Saints D has stopped nothing thus far.

Week 1 has seen its share of upsets over the past decade. Therefore, the most important thing is to get to week 2 and not take any unnecessary risks. Our strategy of finding 2nd tier teams with favorable match ups begins after opening day so we’re left with many top teams later on.

Each week we will give you three options to choose from.

Top Pick

1. Philadelphia Eagles vs. Jax – The Eagles have a dream match-up here. The lowly Jags enter the Linc and bring a lot of inexperience with them. The high flying Eagles, led by LeSean McCoy, will run roughshod over this defense. They are our top suicide pool pick this week and look for an easy win.

Next

2. New York Jets vs. Oak – The Jets have a number of question marks in their secondary, but that is Ok when you face a QB making his first professional start. We expect the Raiders to take steps forward but it won’t happen until midway through the season.

3. Chicago Bears vs. Buf – Buffalo will be a sneaky team this year and pack a lot of firepower offensively, but the Bears do as well and have the decided edge playing at home. Expect Cutler and Co. to put up big numbers through the air.

Must start: Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning and Matt Stafford

Tier 1

Andrew Luck vs. Den – It’s going to be a shootout on Sunday Night.

Nick Foles vs. Jax – Foles should top 25 fantasy points vs. a young and inexperienced Jags D.

Colin Kaepernick vs. Dal – The Cowboys might have the worst D in history of the NFL.

Tony Romo vs. SF – The Boys will catch a 49ers D with a new secondary and down a few All Pros.

Jay Cutler vs. Buf – The Bills D is good, but Cutler will have a lot of success through the air.

Matt Ryan vs. NO – The return of Julio Jones helps immensely.

Philip Rivers vs Arz – The Cardinals D is vulnerable after losing DT Darnell Docket and LB Daryl Washington for the year.

Tier 2

Tom Brady vs. Mia – This has typically been a tougher place for Brady.

Russell Wilson vs. GB – It’s opening night and the Seahawks lost WR Golden Tate in Free Agency. Expect a good effort, but not great.

Andy Dalton vs. Bal – Not a great matchup for Dalton.

Fantasy Sleeper

Ryan Fitzpatrick vs Was – The Skins D was a mess last year and they didn’t do much to shore up that side of the ball.

Beware

Cam Newton vs. TB – He has a whole host of new receiving threats and faces a revamped D under Lovie Smith.

11. Philip Rivers, SD – Had a wonderful turnaround season a year ago. Look for a step back however facing the NFC West, and the Broncos and Raiders have improved defensively from a year ago.

12. Jay Cutler, Chi – The Bears D should put the Bears in a lot of high scoring affairs. Cutler has a tremendous duo to throw to and will once again finish a low end No. 1.

13. Tony Romo, Dal – The Cowboys OL is solid, and Bryant is continuing to flourish as a No. 1. Romo will notch 30 TDs and should be in a lot of high scoring games due to a woeful D.

14. Nick Foles, Phi – Look for a significant step back this year. The league will have a year’s worth of tape on Chip Kelly’s offense and it’ll be tough for Foles to replicate last year’s stellar season. Desean Jackson is now gone which takes away the deep threat.

15. Russell Wilson, Sea – The kid will continue to get better, and a healthy WR Percy Harvin will help. However, this will still be a team that wins on running and D.

16. Ben Roethlisberger, Pit – Big Ben is a back-up or spot starter. He will have some big games, but won’t be as consistent as a No. 1 should be.

17. Andy Dalton, Cin – Another year into his development and another year for AJ Green. Dalton, like Roethlisberger, will be too inconsistent to rely on as a No. 1 but a solid spot starter.

18. Eli Manning, NYG – The Giants offense received a complete makeover. The new system will help Eli and Co. but he is a No. 2 FFL QB until performance says otherwise.

19. Carson Palmer, Arz – There are plenty of weapons in Arizona, but the NFC West is brutal. Six of his games he can’t be trusted as a starter.

20. Joe Flacco, Bal – He’s a fantasy sleeper this year. They brought in Steve Smith which will take pressure off of Torrey Smith, and Dennis Pitta is back. He could end up a top 12 FFL QB end of year.

1. Peyton Manning vs. Ind – Look for Manning to put up 4 TDs and 300+ yards in his homecoming.

2. Andrew Luck vs. Den – Luck has played lights out at home. The Broncos D is nothing special.

3. Tony Romo vs. Phi – Romo will have his way with this giving Eagles secondary.

4. Cam Newton vs. Stl. – Newton’s coming off a 4 TD effort.

Not Far Behind

Tom Brady vs. NYJ – Brady will get back to being Brady IF Gronk re-enters the lineup.

Matt Stafford vs. Cin – Stafford will top 3 TDs against an uneven Bengals D when they play on the road.

Aaron Rodgers vs. Cle – Injuries to his receivers drop him down a notch.

Rounding Things Out

Philip Rivers vs. Jax – Rivers will top 300 yards with 2-3 TDs.

Jay Cutler vs. Was – The Skins pass D is overmatched against Cutler’s playmakers.

RGIII vs. Chi – RGIII will be a threat running and passing the ball against a beaten down Bears D.

Nick Foles vs. Dal – The Cowboys D is beat up. Foles is a fantasy sleeper if your regular starter is out or has a bad match-up.

Matt Ryan vs. TB – Make sure WR Roddy White is a go. The receiver corps is thin.

Ryan Tannehill vs. Buf – Tannehill has put up ~20 points at home this season.

Eli Manning vs. Min – Manning is a fantasy sleeper on Monday Night. The presence of a running game could make this a breakout game for Eli.

Andy Dalton vs. Det – He’s a solid fill in if your regular is out. The Lions D is pretty good, but Dalton will top 275 yards with 2 TDs.

Potential Bust – Beware

Colin Kaepernick vs. Ten – The Titans D is tough vs. the pass and they’re very tough at home.

1. San Francisco 49ers vs. Stl – QB Sam Bradford’s Rams at home means a BIG day for the well rested 49ers D. Look for multiple sacks, turnovers and the Rams to be kept below 10 points.

2. Seattle Seahawks vs. NYJ – Mark Sanchez will have a very long day in the Pacific Northwest.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers vs. KC – If the Chiefs top 10 points it will be a solid evening for them.

4. Dallas Cowboys vs. Phi – DeMarcus Ware and Co. will sack Vick at least 5 times behind that offensive line. Look for Philly’s offensive woes to continue this week.

Next

Houston Texans vs. Chi – The Texans aggressive defense will force Jay Cutler into a few turnovers while sacking him 3-4 times.

New York Giants vs. Cin – The Giants are getting after the QB and forcing turnovers weekly and that will continue here.

New England Patriots vs. Buf – The well rested Patriots D will produce between 10-15 fantasy points this week.

The Rest

Baltimore Ravens vs. Oak – The Ravens are a low No. 1 because the Raiders will likely be without their top RBs. The Ravens D has taken a step back in ’12.

Miami Dolphins vs. Ten – The Titans are challenged offensively.

Detroit Lions vs. Min – This is a low level fantasy D thanks to QB Christian Ponder’s ineptness of recent weeks.

Chicago Bears vs. Hou – The most impressive D in 2012 faces a stern test on Sunday.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. SD – The Bucs will force Rivers and San Diego into a few turnovers Sunday.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Det - The Vikings scored twice on special teams in their 1st meeting. Look for a 10-15 point fantasy day at home this week.

1. Aaron Rodgers vs. Arz – Rodgers will also have WR Jordy Nelson back and throw all over the Cardinals. Look for 300+ yards and 3-4 TDs.

2. Peyton Manning vs. Cin – Manning is on a roll and will throw for 300 yards and 3 TDs vs. the Bengals.

3. Drew Brees vs. Phi – The Eagles pass D is VERY suspect. Brees bounces back at home.

4. Matt Stafford vs. Jax – Look for Stafford to follow up his 352 yard and 4 TD effort with another standout performance.

Next

Eli Manning vs. Pit – Eli will get back on track with 250+ yards and 3 TDs vs. the Steelers.

RGIII vs. Car – The Panthers present a very intriguing match-up for RGIII. Look for 300 total yards with 2-3 TDs.

Cam Newton vs. Was – The Skins pass D ranks among the worst pass defenses in the NFL.

The Rest

Ben Roethlisberger vs. NYG – The Giants pass D has surrendered a lot of yards through the air.

Matt Ryan vs. Dal – The Cowboys pass D is stout, but Ryan will find the end zone at least twice.

Joe Flacco vs. Cle – A week off for the bye should help this passing offense get back on track.

Matt Schaub vs. Buf – Schaub will top 225 yards with 2-3 TDs vs. the pass friendly Bills D.

Tony Romo vs. Atl – The turnovers are disconcerting, but the Falcons pass D can be beat and the Cowboys receivers have the advantage here.

Philip Rivers vs. KC – He’s now a low No. 1 fantasy football QB and working his way out of must play each week. This is a good play however and Rivers will top 200 yards with 2 TDs.

Michael Vick vs. NO – He’ll surely lose his job if he can’t produce this week. The Saints are among the worst defenses in the league.

Jay Cutler vs. Ten – Cutler will top 225 with 2-3 TDs vs. a porous Titans pass D.

1. Aaron Rodgers vs. Jax – Rodgers is on a roll and will roll the Jaguars secondary. Look for 300 yards and 3 TDs.

2. Peyton Manning vs. NO – The Saints pass defense is horrible. 300 yards with 3 TDs.

3. Drew Brees vs. Den – 300 yards for Brees is almost always a given in that offense. Look for 2-3 TDs too.

4. Eli Manning vs. Dal – The Cowboys pass D is tough, but Eli is playing at a much higher level than Week 1, and has more help around him.

Next

Tom Brady vs. Stl. – Brady and the passing game will overwhelm the Rams defense on Sunday.

Ben Roethlisberger vs. Was – The Skins pass defense is its weakness.

Matt Ryan vs. Atl – The Falcons passing game will overmatch the Eagles secondary. Ryan will top 250 yards with 2-3 TDs.

The Rest

Philip Rivers vs. Cle – Rivers is coming off a 6 turnover game but will bounce back vs. the Browns here.

Jay Cutler vs. Car – The Panthers just put another DB (Chris Gamble) on IR and will give up yards and TDs to Cutler.

Tony Romo vs. NYG – He’s been hot vs. the Giants in recent years but look for 15-20 fantasy points tops this week.

RGIII vs. Pit – He’s a major weapon on the ground or throwing the ball and should hit 25 fantasy points with S Troy Polamalu still out.

Christian Ponder vs. TB – If your starter is out, he’s not a terrible fantasy sleeper play. The Bucs secondary has coverage issues with CB Aqib Talib out.

Matt Hasselback vs. Ind – Hasselback will throw for 250 yards with 2 TDs in a favorable matchup.

Andrew Luck vs. Ten – The Titans secondary is weak too.

Michael Vick vs. Atl – The Falcons DBs present a favorable matchup as Vick faces his former team.

Sam Bradford vs. NE – The Patriots pass D has surrendered a lot of yards recently. Bradford’s a solid fantasy sleeper this week.

Russell Wilson vs. Det – The Lions pass D can be exposed, which is what Wilson and Co. will do in Week 8.
