Week 1 saw a few upsets (Seattle) that sent people home. That always happens. Now it’s onto Week 2 of the NFL suicide pool.

Our top three picks this week are:

1. New Orleans vs. TB – We all knew QB Jameis Winston would start slow but none of us thought the defense would be so bad. The Bucs are a bad football team right now. This is a great week to use the Saints (who are a so-so team themselves) to advance to Week 3 of your suicide pool. New Orleans will roll Tampa at home.

Next

2. Pittsburgh Steelers vs. SF – Both teams will be 1-1 after Sunday. The Steelers have issues on defense but are significantly better at home, especially QB Ben Roethlisberger. We’re banking on the 49ers not looking nearly as good as they did in their Monday Night opener.

3. St. Louis Rams vs. Was – The Rams D will smother Kirk Cousins and Co. just like a year ago. If Washington puts up 10 points offensively that will be an accomplishment.

It’s down the final stretch. Here’s our top three picks for the NFL suicide pool in Week 13.

Top pick

1. New York Giants vs. Jax – The Giants are riding a 6 game losing streak but Tom Coughlin has a way of keeping his team from throwing in the towel. This is also against the team where he first became head coach. Look for the Giants to pull out an easy win.

Next

2. Houston Texans vs. Ten – They’re going back to QB Ryan Fitzpatrick but have a decided advantage against the Titans. Look for the Texans D to rise up and force Zack Mettinberger into a few turnovers.

3. St. Louis Rams vs. Oak – The Rams D is starting to rev up and may get DE Chris Long back this week. The Raiders ended their losing streak a week ago and will start a new one here.

It’s getting late in the NFL suicide pool and you’re down to few options that are “locks.” Here is our top three NFL suicide pool picks in Week 17 assuming you’ve used all favorites.

Top Pick

1. St. Louis Rams vs. SD – The Chargers are beat up and so is Philip Rivers, regardless of what they’re saying publicly. Look for the Rams D to be all over the Chargers and for their offense to do just enough to pull out the win.

Next

2. Atlanta Falcons vs. Cle – The Falcons were left for dead a few weeks back but have strung a couple of wins together. The Browns flopped after an impressive Thursday night win over Cincy and have lost DT Phil Taylor for the season and a few other defenders. Expect Atlanta to pull out the W at home.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Chi – The Bears righted the ship for a week with a win over Minnesota. But real problems still exist. Look for the Bucs to come into Chicago and pull out the win. Josh McCown, a Bear a year ago, will come in and put up big numbers.

It’s onto week 11 of the NFL suicide pool. There aren’t many top options remaining for many. Here is our top three NFL suicide pool picks for Week 11 picking from the less obvious choices:

Top Pick

1. Cleveland Browns vs. Hou – Typically you might worry about a letdown after their big win vs. the Bengals on Thursday. But that won’t happen here. The Texans start QB Ryan Mallett which creates uncertainty facing a defense on the upswing.

Next

2. Carolina Panthers vs. Atl – Cam Newton and Co. got embarrassed on MNF. Thankfully for them they get the Falcons at home this Sunday. Expect a sloppy game which the Panthers pull out by at least a TD.

3. Washington Redskins vs. TB – The Bucs can do no right this year. They have a few talented spots on the roster but are razor thin in the middle. They’re also lacking a QB. All of that equals another loss when they head to Washington.

Not many surprises in Week 9 of the NFL Suicide Pool. Now it’s on to Week 10. Here are our top three selections for this week’s NFL Suicide Pool. The assumption is that most of the top teams have already been used (eg Denver, Seattle, GB, etc) so we’ll look for less obvious winners in a week with a large number of teams on bye.

Top Pick

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. NYJ – There is the obvious worry of a letdown, but that is less likely than another self destruction on the part of the Jets. Look for Big Ben to continue putting up impressive passing numbers against a porous pass D and for the Steelers to pull out the win on the road.

Next

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Atl – Neither team is going anywhere fast. Go with the Bucs at home who are making the switch back to QB Josh McCown. That won’t necessarily make too big of a splash but the Falcons are thin along the OL and DL and Tampa will put out the close win.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Ten – At home, against a rookie QB, and coming off an embarrassing loss on National TV. Look for the Ravens to roll the Titans this week and play suffocating D.

It’s on to Week 9 of the NFL suicide pool. The Lions gave everyone a scare last week but rallied from 21 down at halftime to win. Below are our three choices for this week’s NFL suicide pool pick.

Top pick

1. Kansas City Chiefs vs. NYJ – J-E-T-S-JETS JETS JETS becomes Y-E-S-YES YES YES for the Chiefs. Michael Vick is now the starting QB which is only an upgrade when you consider how poorly Geno Smith has been playing. The Chiefs will bury New York at home and win this one going away.

Next

2. Cincinnati Bengals vs. Jax – This is going to end up another laugher. AJ Green returns which will help the entire Bengals offense. Not that they’ll need it this week but look for a convincing win on Sunday.

3. San Francisco 49ers vs. Stl. – The Rams are not ready for the big stage either. They were rolled a few weeks ago by Kaepernick and Co. and the 49ers will enter this contest coming off the bye. Look for the 49ers to continue their domination over their NFC West rival at home.

Week 6 saw a few thought to be shoe-ins fall: San Diego Chargers, Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks (again). It’s now onto Week 7 of the NFL suicide pool. Our top three NFL suicide pool picks are:

Top

1. Dallas Cowboys vs. Was – The Cowboys will roll to an easy win on Monday Night. Typically rivalry games are tricky, but not when the Redskins will be without their top defensive player (Brian Orakpo) and starting 3rd stringer QB Colt McCoy. Look for Dallas to easily cover the point spread and win by double digits.

Next

2. Cleveland Browns vs. Oak – Last week was embarrassing. The previously winless Jags upset the Browns in their home park. That won’t happen this week. The Raiders are dreadful and will struggle on the road.

3. Miami Dolphins vs. Jax – The Jags lone win will not become a “winning streak” unfortunately. Miami’s D is stout and will stifle the young Jags O. Look for Ryan Tannehill and the offense to put up 27 in the easy win…

1. New England Patriots vs. NYJ – The NFL scheduling gods didn’t do the Jets any favors with their hellacious schedule to start the season. 1-5 will become 1-6 when they head to Foxboro tonight. The defense is trying to give NYJ a chance to win but the offense is non-existent.

Next

2. Cleveland Browns vs. Jax – The Jaguars made it interesting against the Titans but ultimately lost. The Browns are playing good football and will roll again here.

3. Buffalo Bills vs. Min – The Vikings are lacking in talent and bringing along a rookie QB. The Bills feature a strong defense whereas the offense does just enough to win a few games. This is one of them.

Last week was rather uneventful except for those who were lured into taking the Steelers and the Falcons. Both teams (Falcons and Bucs) from Week 3 TNF ended up costing those who picked for or against them and knocked a decent size number of players out of their suicide pools. Here is our top three NFL suicide pool picks in order.

Top pick

1. Detroit Lions vs. Buf – The Lions hot start looks for real and they are very tough at home. This week they’ll get the Bills who are turning to journeyman QB Kyle Orton to kickstart their offense. That’ll be a tall order against a defense that is playing very well.

Next

2. Green Bay Packers vs. Min – Short week, heading to Lambeau and the Vikings will likely be down to their 3rd string QB, Christian Ponder. The odds don’t look good for Minnesota. Expect Aaron Rodgers and Co. to control things offensively and for the Packers D to force turnovers on TNF.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Jax – For those who weren’t burned by the Steelers a week ago THIS is the week to select them. They’ll be angry, embarrassed and facing the worst team in the league. Hands down. Look for Big Ben and Co. to roll to a double digit victory and easily win in Jacksonville.

No real surprises a week ago. All teams that were supposed to win did win. Now we move to Week 4 of the NFL Suicide Pool and here are our top three teams.

Top Pick

1. San Diego Chargers vs. Jax – The sight of QB Blake Broyles starting is a welcome one for the Chargers. They’re a bit banged up coming back from Buffalo but will have little trouble in this game. Look for Rivers and Co. to have their way with the Jacksonville D and for San Diego’s defense to force Broyles into multiple mistakes.

Next

2. Atlanta Falcons vs. Min – Things have really gone awry in Minnesota after their impressive week 1 win against the Rams. Their franchise runner is still out and now QB Matt Cassel is gone for the year. Look for the Falcons, coming off a 10 day rest, to head into Minnesota and roll the Vikings in their home park.

3. San Francisco 49ers vs. Phi – The Eagles are banged up on the OL and that will catch up to them. Playing against the 49ers expect them to pressure Foles heavily. Offensively, look for SF to take the ball out of Colin Kaepernick’s hands and put it into their RBs hands.
