1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-1.5) vs. Washington Redskins – The Redskins season is officially over and the players have thrown in the towel. Their effort in New York suggests that this team has quit on Mike Shanahan.
Look for the Bucs, still mathematically very much in the Wild Card race, to go into Washington and pull out an easy win. This is the top football bet of the week.
Next In Line
2. New England Patriots (-3) vs. Chicago Bears – The Bears are on a five-game winning streak but could very well lose their next four against tough opponents. They’ll get routed this week. The Patriots really won an unemotional and non competitive affair Monday Night over the Jets and will bring plenty of energy and focus to this one.
Look for Tom Brady and the offense to spread things around and lead the Pats to a convincing win.
3. San Diego Chargers (-6.5) vs. Kansas City Chiefs – This is the Chargers season. If they lose, their chances of making the Playoffs are virtually nil. The Chiefs QB Matt Cassel suffered an appendectomy this week and is 50/50 to play. If he can’t go, the game is a mismatch. Regardless, even if he does play, look for a desperate Chargers team to rise to the occasion and keep their season alive with a win by a TD.
4. Miami Dolphins (+5) vs. New York Jets – See Money Line Bet
Rounding Out the List
Cleveland Browns (+1) vs. Buffalo Bills – The Browns as underdogs is surprising. Look for Cleveland to ride the backs of RB Peyton Hillis and its D to a win in Buffalo.
Jacksonville Jaguars (-4) vs. Oakland Raiders – The Raiders are coming off an emotional win in San Diego and must head back east to face a red hot Jaguars team. This will be too much for the inconsistent team to overcome. Look for Jax by a TD.
Dallas Cowboys (+3.5) vs. Philadelphia Eagles – The Cowboys have covered all four point spreads since Jason Garrett took over. Look for five. This is in Dallas and the Cowboys always play the Eagles tough.
Money Line Bet
Miami Dolphins (+190) vs. New York Jets
The Jets took a beating on Monday Night that will be difficult to get over… especially from a psychological standpoint. The Patriots literally exposed and exploited every weakness of this team and the Jets are shaken from a confidence standpoint.
The Dolphins aren’t coming into this much better, having suffered a backbreaking loss to the Browns last week, but they always rise up to the occasion when playing the Jets and we see them doing so again.
Look for a close affair which the Fins pull out in the New Meadowlands.
