More to come on this breaking news, but my initial thoughts are that the Broncos completely blew the handling of this situation and have put themselves at least five years back in terms of being a contender again.
And Josh McDaniels will be out of there in three years. Guaranteed.

I agree with you in that the Broncos blew it. They let a franchise, pro bowl, 25 year old qb, with a light contract (3 yrs, 17 million), go for some first round picks and a backup. Plus, the first round pick this year is too low for the top 2 qbs, and if Cutler works out in Chicago, next years pick will be in the 20′s. And for everyone who rips Cutler for having a losing record, more int’s than td’s, and has never tasted the playoffs, he was 13-1 when his team gave up 21 points or fewer. I believe they play a little defense in the windy city……
And as for McDaniels, he believes he is Bill Belichick, but has accomplished NOTHING in this league as a head coach. My way or the highway? The latter may very well apply to McDaniels if he doesn’t work some magic, and fast. Can you imagine, Da Bears, in the playoffs next year, and the broncos sitting at home with a 5-11 record?
And as far as franchise qb’s go, they do not come around very often. Just ask the giants, who have never recovered since the loss of Phil Simms.

Giants blew it. Cutler was the QB to make us forget Simms. With his arm and Gilbrides pass happy offensive game plans we would win by 20 or more. Wind, rain, snow or brutally cold weather could not stop team Cutler/Gibride. For me it’s an opportunity lost.

And with Elisha and the wind, rain, snow, or brutally cold weather, you have a lot of backward laterals and 10 yard “flutter bombs!”
