1. Tony Romo vs. Cincinnati. It gets even worse for the Bengals as they travel to Big D. Romo and Co. (TO) are mad over last week’s division loss to the Skins, and Cincy is banged up in its secondary, not that it would’ve mattered either way. I think Romo has a big day: 250 + yds and at least 2 TDs.
2. Peyton Manning vs. Houston. Manning is always a must start, but his numbers have been very ordinary this season as he’s had to work his way back into game shape after missing all of the pre-season with a knee injury and he’s also had to deal with numerous injuries to his offensive line. After last week’s bye, things should be back to normal and Houston is coming into town, which is usually a promising sign to the opposing QB. Look for Peyton to get back on track and put up “Peyton” type numbers. 250+ yards an at least a couple of scores.
3. Aaron Rodgers vs. Atlanta. This is all dependent on whether he is available for the game. He’s dealing with a sprained shoulder suffered in last week’s loss to Tampa Bay. Atlanta has shown itself pretty good at stopping the run, but are vulnerable to the pass. Last week Muhammed went for 147 and a TD and Smith went for over 70 with a TD. I think GB capitalizes on this mismatch and Rodgers throws for a few scores.
Sleepers:
1. Matt Schaub vs. Indianapolis. When Colts’ safety Bob Sanders went down in Week 2, it changed the entire dynamic of Indy’s defense, and not for the better… They’re unable to stop anybody, and without Sanders manning the secondary, Dungy is forced to either drop more guys into coverage which hurts the pass rush or bring more pressure which leaves the secondary exposed. Houston has one of the league’s best receivers in Andre Johnson and some other nice weapons and I think Schaub finds a way to get a few of his passes into the end zone for this contest.
2. Brian Griese vs. Denver. I know, this is probably the 1st, and last time you’ll find me list Griese in the fantasy section, but I like his match-up this week. The Broncos haven’t stopped anyone on defense because they’ll still haven’t found a way to pressure the QB, and Tampa has shown if it has to, it can win through the air (Week 3 at Chicago), which is what I think they’ll need to do to pull out a victory in Denver.
